Just got off with one of the AN’s for mom’s oncologist, Dr. James McClosky.
Her name is Joelle and she is kind and clear and she has my number and has promised to call me within 2 hours for another update.
Mom’s red blood count and platelets are in good shape after transfusions but unfortunately her white blood cell count is very low, and that is due to the chemo (transfusions do not help with white blood cells).
Mom is currently on the following meds:
* IV antibiotics
* antifungal
*antiviral
The first two are new additions since she’s been admitted.
The ENT delayed the surgery because at every turn, they want to be the least invasive possible to prevent more problems or greater potential for infection.
Right when she hung up with me, she pledged to call the ENT for their latest update.
The reason mom hasn’t been getting solid foods or liquids is to prep her for the procedure, but Joelle is going to ask to lift that since if they went through with the procedure, the soonest would be tomorrow, so she sees know reason to deprive her of food and liquids today.
The dental issue is separate from the sinusitis – Joelle thinks they will next be doing an x-ray, and hoping that the IV antibiotics will clear up what they’re seeing. After the ENT, she is going to call the dental office for their update.
Joelle also claims mom will be in a private room on the 9th floor in a few hours.
Joelle thinks the earliest she would be released is Friday.
Look for another update in approximately 2 hours!
Simon, thanks for the update.
We’re all hoping for better news asap.
Love and hugs,
Aunt Esther and Uncle Lenny
