We have a lot to catch up on!…
It’s been a long week, but a lovely week.
I have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time taking care of mom. Traveling from Florida to New Jersey was well worth the trip.
This week Mom switched from Chemo infusions, to Chemo in Pill form. It has its ups and downs.
She gets to be home more and spend more time with all of us, but it makes her very tired, and has hit her very hard.
Her PICC line ended up coming out, due to infection. We are caring for the site at home as it slowly heals. She is feeling much relief from the PICC line being removed. The site is still tender, but much better.
Her appetite is getting better, with some medication adjustments made by her treatment team. With her requesting some comfort food … scooped out toasted bagel with tuna and egg salad with yellow American cheese on top.
As a special surprise this past weekend Simon made us all stay up WAY PAST our bedtime on Friday April 23rd.. He kept saying “20 more minutes, just stay up with me!!” Then mom came out of her room, “Don’t tell the girls what??”
Then… REGINA AND BOB were on the front lawn in the pitch black of night.
It was a great surprise! They drove up from Virginia, and spent the whole weekend with us.
We laughed and cried, and ate pastrami on rye. It was exactly what we all needed. And it set mom up for the second round of Chemo, knowing that we are all united and surrounding her with love and support.
What a great update! Please keep them coming.
Sending our love and best wishes from Massachusetts !!! Xoxoxo
