The waves of life.
Yesterday I took mom to the cancer center for her weekly blood work. I was prepared to be there for hours. Thank g-d that wasn’t the case. In fact we got great news! Moms numbers look amazing! Especially after the past week , which felt like a month. Her wbc was up, her hemoglobin was holding at a level that wasn’t dangerous and above what they consider to need a transfusion. Her platelets were at an all time high, and for the first time ever Marsha sue actually had a nuetrphil counted in the CBC. So good news on the blood numbers!
With the ups comes the downs, moms cough is not getting better, so this week I will take her to the pulmonologist to get some more answers and get mom the right support soShe can live without coughing till she throws up. We will also have mom follow upWith the neurologist to get to the bottom of her dizzy spells, and her cognitive confusion.
Mom will also start her third round of chemo next Monday at home with the chemo pills, so friends and family can keep her company and annoy her.
I think EVERYTIme she wears those black patent leather shoes, I get embarrassed, but we always get some good news. 🤦🏻♀️😜❤️
We as a family are learning how to surf these waves of life… the ups and downs, the extreme lows and little moments that count as huge moments of relief! At times it is a bit confusing how in one week moms numbers can go from as low as counting as nothing , where she is needing medical intervention, then the complete opposite, where she and we all , feel such relief when the dr says a small number, which translates to.., ‘you have somewhat of an actual immune system!!’
How can one week involve two hospitalizations , with one family vacation, and feel like the longest days and hours…. of our lives. And the next week, the days pass soo slowly, then you look back and It’s already summer?!
Time passes in this illusion as we either fear we don’t have enough time, or we fear time is moving too slowly. So for this week, let’s all stay in the present moment, with our breathe, with our loved ones, with our health wherever it is in the moment, as we sit with our friends and family, and enjoy the time we all have right now, together. The time we spend in the ups and the downs, riding the waves of life- together.
This is great news, and beautifully said. Thank you for the update!
